TMHA Submits Request to Gov. Abbot for Factory-Built Housing to be an “Essential Service”
At this point, Gov. Abbott has not issued a state-wide “shelter in place” order. However, cities and counties throughout Texas have issued their own local orders. We are currently aware of and are tracking the various orders across the state and will update our specific post as more become known.
TMHA submitted our request to Gov. Abbott individually, and we are collectively joining other construction and housing related industries making a combined request, asking for factory-built housing to be included in the list of “Essential Services” that are allowed to continue operations during a shelter in place order. Many of the local orders we are tracking do include explicit exemptions for housing construction, however others do not. This is an ever-changing situation that we will update as we learn more.
