TMHA Submits Comments on GLO Action Plan for Harvey Relief

On April 11 the General Land Office (GLO) published its State Action Plan detailing the distribution and eligible uses of $5.024 billion in Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) to assist Texas communities with long-term recovery following Hurricane Harvey.  The plan was posted for public comment with an expedited response window that ends at 5p.m. on April 26.

TMHA has submitted our public comments calling for the inclusion of manufactured housing in all state and local recovery programs.

We encourage others in our industry to similarly weigh in on the GLO’s Action Plan.

Of the total $5.024 billion, $1.048 billion is set to be used exclusively for single family rehabilitation and new construction.

In addition to the current $5 billion, Congress authorized nearly $28 billion more in CDBG-DR funds now headed to nine states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Texas is set to get an additional $5.035 billion in the coming months. And it certainly stands to reason that the final plan for the first $5 billion could also dictate the second round of $5 billion more.
