Recovery for Hurricane Harvey Still Forefront
TMHA has and will continue to work with all our resources to help in the recovery efforts following the unprecedented destruction of Hurricane Harvey. Still very much in our thoughts and prayers are our family, friends, and TMHA members impacted by this storm.
Since the storm, we have been gathering information and speaking to members in the impacted areas, as well as those who have charged into areas to help initially with the rescue operations and now with recovery. TMHA is working with the help of our members, in particular Kurt Kelley and Casey Thom and their teams, to build a list of debris removal contractors, tree service contractors, and various other resources. We have also gathered information on available homes and home sites.
This Thursday, TMHA’s executive director, DJ Pendleton, has been invited to the Joint Housing Solutions Work Group at the Austin FEMA offices. More than 40 people are included in the Work Group from nearly every facet of disaster response. Organized by Texas Dept. of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management, Pendleton will join people from FEMA, US Army, HUD, USDA, SBA, Dept. of Homeland Security, TDHCA, TX General Land Office, TX Dept. of Agriculture, DSHA, Salvation Army, and the Red Cross.
Pendleton was contacted last week by various news outlets and was interviewed by National Public Radio and contributed to CBS News.
TMHA will continue to work with members, organize our resources, and prepare our industry efforts for the immediate response and later long term recovery that will take place in the years to come.
