2024 Primaries Coming in March (Early voting starts in February)

The March 5th primaries are nearly upon us once again.  In fact, early voting starts February 20th.  And if you aren’t yet registered or have employees and/or tenants (for our MHC owners) who are not yet registered to vote, they have until February 5th to get registered.

Sixteen representatives of the Texas House have decided to retire and/or not run for this election: Charles “Doc” Anderson (R- Waco); Bryan Slaton (R- Royse City); Julie Johnson (D- Dallas); Abel Herrero (D- Robstown); Tracy King (D- Uvalde); Four Price (R- Amarillo); Matt Schaefer (R- Tyler); John Raney (R- Bryan); Lina Ortega (D- El Paso); Carl Sherman (D- Lancaster); Ed Thompson (R- Pearland); Kyle Kacal (R-Bryan); Geanie Morrison (R-Victoria); Andrew Murr (R-Junction); Craig Goldman (R- Fort Worth); and Jarvis Johnson (D-Houston).

Two House members are not running for re-election in the Texas House because they are running for US Congress, and Rep. Sherman has announced a run for U.S. Senate.  Rep. Jarvis Johnson is running for Texas Senate.

Two senators are not returning: John Whitmire (D- Houston), who is now the new mayor of Houston, and Drew Springer (R-Muenster), who decided not to run again.  Sen. Roland Gutierrez (D- San Antonio) is planning to challenge incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz for one of Texas’ two US Senate seats.

TMHA’s team is marshaling our PAC resources and is hitting the road this month to visit and contribute to those members running competitive primary races.  We will keep our members updated as we get closer to the election.
