Texas Manufactured Housing Sales in March 2019

March

Titles for new homes sales in March moved up 30.6% over February, and came in 8% over March of 2018. Single-section sales moved past multi-section sales for the first time in 2019 and posted a 43.4% increase over February.

After landing in the top spot for new installations four months running, Ector County moved down one place in March with Harris County leading the state in installations. Hidalgo County saw a large month-over-month increase in new homes to take the third spot.

Titles for used home sales were up over February, but down across the board compared to March of 2018.

Annual Totals

At the end of Q1 new home sales are beating 2018’s totals with the majority of growth coming from multi-section home sales. The year-over-year growth decelerated over the past month from 16% growth to just under 10%.

Harris and Ector counties are leading the state with growth over 2018. Montgomery County trailing in Q1 is similar to what’s taking place with the rest of the top 25 counties for new home installations. Most of the Harvey impacted counties are down while with the exception of Dallas and Tarrant counties, the rest of the top 25 in the state are up.

April Preliminary Data

The early data for April looks promising with growth over March and April of 2018. The second quarter of 2018 was very strong with month-over-month growth extending through May, so we’ll see how 2019 compares as the title processing continues.
