September 2017 Reports and October Preliminary Data

New titles moved up in September from August by 3.6% and were up 16.5% over new titles in September of 2016.

After falling out of the top five counties for new installs in August, Montgomery County came charging back to take the top spot with a 96.2% increase over last month. Harris and Travis Counties were both down -22.6% and -33.3% respectively from last month, while Liberty and Brazoria grew installs in line with the state’s total increase for September.

As titles for the third quarter of the year come to a close the top ten counties for new installs on the year are the following:

Only Montgomery, Bexar, and Travis are currently below their totals from 2016.

The preliminary data for October is tracking up 11.5% over September and 33.5% over October of 2016. We reported that shipments were poised for a strong final quarter of the year at the beginning of the month, and title data is pointing in a similar direction. Unlike shipments though, FEMA temporary housing is not showing up in the titling data. The GLO’s initial purchase of 28 homes were titled as September sales, but FEMA homes that have been installed and inspected by TDHCA are not getting titled per TDHCA.
