September 2016 Shipment Report
Total shipments for September were down -2.01% from the previous month due to a decline in single-section homes. Despite the decline, total shipments were up just slightly above September of 2015.
After including September, total homes shipped year-to-date is down -2.81% over 2015, but that is up from the -3.22% we were at last month. Production through the first nine months of the year came in at 13,165 total homes, which is the exact figure it was at this time last year. So through three quarters, Texas factories have kept the same pace for total number of homes constructed.
With September employment growth for the state at 2.1%, oil rig counts in the Permian Basin modestly increasing and the state’s existing real-property housing inventory at 3.7 months, the market for manufactured housing appears solid to close out the year.
