October 2018 Reports and November Preliminary Data

New titles in October moved up 6.9% from September to a total of 1,027 homes. Single-sections and multi-section homes both made gains over the previous month of 6.6% and 7.2% respectively. New titles were also up for both unit types compared to October of 2017 at this time a year ago with the total market for the month up 1% over 2017.

Over the next few months we’ll be watching the revised total for October, with the Thanksgiving break hitting in November late titles can increase the month’s total considerably. For October of 2017 the new title total was revised up +237 units over the course of the next couple months.

Harris County reclaimed the top spot for new home installations for October. The Permian Basin counties are down month-over-month which could be an indication of the market cooling as oil prices declined over the course of that month. A decline which continued on through the end of the year.

The Midland County decline is exaggerated by the large number of homes that had been installed there the previous month.

Liberty County was up 13% and bumped Bexar County out of the top five which saw a -16.7% decline in new home installs.
