New titles followed the typical mid-fourth quarter decline in consumer demand and also continued the 2015 trend of higher multi-section home titles over 2014, though just barely this time around. From the preliminary title data and shipment data for December that trend looks like it will hold out to close out the year.
With Decembers shipment numbers in, we officially closed out 2015 down 2.02% on total homes shipped in state, but multi-section shipments grew by an impressive 10.37% over 2014. That increase meant an additional 575 multi-section units were shipped in state.
Looking beyond our state borders, total homes shipped by Texas manufacturing plants was up 2.63% for 2015.
As we turn the corner into 2016 we’ll be watching to see how WTI crude oil prices, site-built price appreciation and a decline in site-built sales activity in and around Harris county will impact the years shipments and retail sales.
