March 2016 Reports and April Preliminary Data

New titles for March multi-section homes kept up the +30% pace over the preceding month that they turned in last release. New title growth for single-section homes slowed, posting slight gains over February but coming in just below March of 2015's total. The total for multi-section titles came in at the same 574 homes as the total for singles and as late titles are processed it very well may best it for the first time in 2016.

Looking at the top ten from our Retail Titles by Installation County reports, only Johnson(-60.87%), Hardin(-44%), and Montgomery(-8.7%) posted declines for March over February, while Ector(+24%) and Harris(+70%) counties, whom started the year slow, grew at rates well above the +15.73% rate the state as a whole grew at over February.

The used title market continued to post strong gains over 2015.

April data is sending some mixed messages with shipments dropping to -2.89% for the year on the account of the multi-section market showing signs of deceleration, but the preliminary title data is up across the board so retailers appear to have had a solid month. Total floors shipped for the year are still above 2015 so I don’t expect to hear too much complaining at our upcoming Annual Convention in San Antonio on August 14-16.
