New titles for January moved down from December -11.5% with both single-section (-13%) and multi-section homes (-9.9%) seeing declines. Compared to January of 2017 new titles were up 15.6% driven mainly by a large 29.5% year-over-year increase In multi-section homes. Single-section homes were up 4.2% over January of 2017.
The year-over-year comparison may look better at present than it will ultimately end up due to the large upward revision January took last year, when 94 additional units came in after the report release.
All top five counties for new installations were down from December’s installs and only Ector County was new to the board, hopping into second place.
Looking to February, the preliminary data shows mostly sideways movement from January and a slight 2% increase over February of 2017.
