January 2017 Shipment Report
The factories appear to have started the year at a frenzied pace posting 16% gains in multi-section shipments and almost 49% gains in single-section shipments inside the state over December’s totals. Those gains were not merely a shift in production focus to Texas retailer orders though, as factories still collectively managed to ship 615 homes out of state. If there is no error in the reporting to and from TDHCA, that would make the 1,768 homes produced in January the highest total since we began tracking in 2012.
Looking solely at Texas shipments, the 686 single-section homes shipped was an 18% increase over January of 2016, while multi-section shipments were down 11.9%. The gap between new homes titled and new homes shipped in 2016 that we've been tracking since the last shipment report is now down to 87 homes.
TMHA member Clayton Homes shipped its first homes from their new Athens plant in January and have been added to the manufacturers shipment report.
News also broke last week that TMHA member Skyline is closing its Mansfield plant and it appears that TMHA member Champion Home Builders is purchasing the facility and plans to continue operating it. We would like to thank Skyline for all of their support and to thank all of our manufacturer members that support the associations efforts at the Capitol and on member services like these monthly stat reports.
