Primary Run Off
The May 27 Primary Runoff in Texas again demonstrated the conservative leanings in many districts and races across the state. Generally the candidates who successfully conveyed to the runoff election voters their conservative credentials and principal emerged victorious.
The highest profile runoff was in the race of Lt. Governor where state Sen. Dan Patrick defeated incumbent Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. The Republican runoff for Attorney General went handedly to former state Sen. Ken Paxton over Dan Branch.
There we a handful of Democratic Party run off races as well, including several for state wide office. However, the bigger picture story was comparing turnout between the two parties. The Republican races muster over 750,000 total votes while the Democrats totals were nearly only a quarter of the Republican turnout totals.
