MHI's Fair Housing 101 and Sample Policies

Compliance with the federal Fair Housing Act (FHA) has long been required of housing providers, including manufactured housing and manufactured home communities. And for those not aware the enforcement of FHA complaints has received extra attention in recent history. With recent settlements - some reaching six-figures - multiple HUD guidance bulletins, questions we constantly field related to support or service animals, and a now confirmed case in Texas of "testers" calling a community in search of FHA violations, all compel a prudent operator to take notice and ensure their policies and procedures are adequately in place.

MHI’s Rick Robinson, General Counsel/Sr. VP State & Local Affairs, created a presentation going over the basics of Fair Housing compliance. He has also assembled sample policies and disclosures and provided these resources to the states to pass along to our members.
