84th Recap: Disclosure of Home Mortgage Information to a Surviving Spouse

HB 831 passed this session and could have some application to mortgage servicers. The issue HB 831 sought to address were situations where a spouse is not named or party to a home mortgage loan but the spouse who is named dies. Surviving spouses were having difficulty obtaining loan information once the named spouse had passed away. 

HB 831 passed and if signed into law by the governor would require a servicer to provide a surviving spouse the mortgage loan information after the servicer receives a request from the surviving spouse.
